City of Brighton: Board and Commission Positions Available

The city of Brighton will accept applications for the following Board and Commission positions through Friday, May 28:

Historic Preservation Commission (three openings): The Historic Preservation Commission reviews resources designating historic sites, reviews and makes decisions on alterations of historic sites, assists owners of historic properties on physical and financial aspects of historic preservation, and develops and assists in public education programs to historic preservation. They meet from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month.

Urban Renewal Authority (two openings): The Brighton Urban Renewal Authority (BURA) is dedicated to maintaining a sustainable and inclusive downtown district with a strong mix of commercial, residential, educational and cultural uses. They meet at 4 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of every month.

Liquor Licensing Authority (one opening): The Liquor Licensing Authority may grant and refuse licenses and special permits, and approve and deny applications for renewal and transfer of licenses for the sale of liquor. They meet at 6 p.m. on the first and third Monday of every month.

Applications for the above mentioned Boards and Commissions may be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office, 22 S. 4th Ave., Suite 305, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The application is also available at www.brightonco.gov and click on “I Want To” and then Apply for Boards and Commissions. Completed applications should be returned to the City Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 28. The Brighton Housing Authority is seeking interested Brighton residents to fill one vacancy position of a remaining four year term from a vacated position on its Housing Authority Board. This board was created to assure quality service to the Brighton Housing Authority clients. Members of the Housing Authority Board meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of every month. Applications are available at and should be submitted to the Brighton Housing Authority, Attention Maria Alvarado, 22 S. 4th Ave. no later than Friday, May 28.
